General

Varners is closely monitoring the impact of Coronavirus (COVID-19). Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by the ongoing COVID-19 crisis around the world. We urge everyone to take adequate precautions to help mitigate the transmission of COVID-19 and alleviate the burden on healthcare systems worldwide.

In this regard, we are closely following the advice of the Government of Sri Lanka and the World Health Organisation. We have taken necessary measures to ensure that we continue to attend to the legal requirements of clients in an uninterrupted manner. This continues to be of paramount importance to us. We are also providing our lawyers and other staff members with regular updates on the health and safety precautions they need to take to ensure their welfare.

Our team of lawyers and support staff have been provided with remote working arrangements (in the event of another lockdown being imposed) to efficiently serve our clients' urgent needs.

Our business continuity plan

In order to minimise and mitigate the potential impact of COVID-19 on our operations, our ongoing action plan comprises:

  • Regular crisis management partner meetings to assess risks to our staff and clients;
  • Ensuring staff and clients strictly adhere to health and safety protocols;
  • IT planning to ensure our staff can work remotely when required; and
  • Prudently monitoring the situation, following government updates closely, and paying attention to developments concerning COVID-19.

These measures allow us to continue to provide our services in these challenging times.
